The activity of the Metabolic Diseases Research Unit is aimed at extending translational research to hereditary metabolic diseases, through the study of the metabolome, pathophysiological mechanisms and genetic determinants.

The objectives of the Research Unit are: to define new biomarkers, to improve knowledge on the natural history of diseases and to develop new therapeutic approaches. The research activities are carried out in collaboration with the Metabolic Diseases Operating Unit.
