The Research Unit studies the physiopathology of acute and chronic hepatic insufficiency and hepatic metabolic diseases, with an integrated clinical and biological approach.
The goal is to identify the mechanisms, risk factors and molecular targets for therapy and prevention.
The Research Unit of Clinical Hepatogastroenterology and Transplantology also deals with the application of cellular, pharmacological and gene translational medicine techniques.
The objectives of the Research Unit are: to define new biomarkers, to improve knowledge on the natural history of diseases and to develop new therapeutic approaches. The research activities are carried out in collaboration with the Operational Unit of Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery and Liver and Kidney Transplants.
